Mustang Trekking
Mustang TrekMustang trekking is most mysterious and well known trekking area in Nepal. The landscape of Mustang is dry and sandstone pillars and discontinuous moraine terraces, which present a colorful variety made up principally of earthen reds, yellows and brown together. It is relatively easy trekking along the permitted route to Lo Manthang, which lies in the very heart of Mustang. The trekking to Mustang is through an almost treeless landscape. Strong winds generally blow across the area in the afternoon, generally subsiding at night. And this is the rain shadow area of Nepal.

Normally, Trekking into Upper Mustang is an uncommon and privilege opportunity, we can experience the true life of the real mountain people. In many ways, trekking into the Upper Mustang Area is quite similar trekking in to Tibet; geographically it is a part of Tibet.

In mustang the soul of man is still considered to be as real as the feet he walks on, while the land itself is almost treeless, infertile landscape similar to Tibetan plateau, but where beauty and happiness flourishes, in spite of hardship. This was part of the Tibetan Kingdom of Gungthang until 1830's. The fabled medieval wall city of Lo Monthang, unofficial capital of Mustang still remains a kingdom within a kingdom its full of culture and religious heritage. The early history to Lo Monthang is larger-than-life in myth and legend rather than the recorded detail. Mustang has maintained its status as a separate principality until 1951. The king of Lo Monthang still retains his title and he has been given the honorary rank of Colonel in the Nepalese Army.
