Chulu EastChulu peak is Located in the north of the Annapurna range, The Chulu peak form part of the Manang Himal. The local people call julu peak too. This expedition combines one of the world's best trekking circuits with the second highest trekking peak in Nepal.

Trip Description
With the superior views of the 'great barrier' from the flanks of Chulu East (6,584m) this demanding expedition into the heart of the Annapurna range is more than a match for any of the Khumbu trekking peaks. Including an option to climb Chulu (Far East) (6,059m) if time and conditions allow, this is a challenging program.

After few days of enjoy in Kathmandu, we set trail to the Besisahar, the traditional put-in point for the Annapurna circuit trekking. We trek north along the Marsayangdi River, at various points' crossing over suspension bridges. We ascend through the green mid-hills and the colourful variety of cultures into alpine forest and then up higher into alpine meadows. Soon the temperate climate gives way to the dry desert conditions of the Manang district, home of century's old Buddhist temples and medieval villages. The Tibetan customs and architecture of the Manang district represent a very different world from where we set trail a week ago.

We spend a few days at Manang (3,440m) to help us acclimatize to the altitude and prepare for our summit. To increase our fitness and strength, we take a number of excursions surrounded by the spectacular scenery. Having prepared our fuel, food and camping equipment into manageable loads, we set off expedition style on our ascent up the Chetsi Khola towards Chulu East and the first of our base camps.

We have entered an alpine wilderness of snow now, rock and very cold temperatures. We remain along with these magnificent peaks for the next four days, first setting lower base camp (4,300m) and then upper base camp (5,330m). The sunset colours on nearby peaks are remarkable. The precise timing of our final push for the summit of Chulu East along the north-east ridge will depend on weather conditions and progress of the group. It is a long and demanding day to the summit and back to camp.

After taking in an optional ascent of Chulu (Far East) (6,091m), we retrace our steps to the Marsayangdi River valley, and reconnect with the main Annapurna Circuit route. From Manang, we head up to and cross the Thorong La Pass (5,416m), one of the highest trekking Pass in the world. We continue our descent and explore the fascinating village of Muktinath with its excess of temples and religious sites, before continuing down to Jomsom from where we catch our return flight to Kathmandu.
